Belize Wedding Excursions: Spotting Jaguars
Go at night: jaguars hunt nocturnallyand sleep during the day. Some guests have been lucky enough to see one in the early morning, but the safest bet is to stay up and wait. Cockscomb has facilities and specifically for spotting cats at night.
Bring an umbrella and a guide:The green season, June and July, is when the Jaguar is most active. Go with a licensed guide who will track the cats' prints and droppings. We have set up cameras throughout the rainforest to record and observe the jaguars' behavior and know what to look for. We can assist you with guides in Belmopan and Placencia. Yes, the guides we will set you up with are also trained medics!
Be quiet: This one is hard. Sitting still, in the dark, in the rain, at night looking for jaguars. They are known for their stealth and any foreign noise or scent will scare them away. Pray: to the ancient Mayan Jaguar God of the underworld, Xbalanque,t hat some cats come your way.
